C&K Components, a leading international supplier of tact switches, toggle, rocker and pushbutton switches, and smart card interconnect devices, has developed a Quad Navigation switch assembly. The four-way switch is available with backlit illumination and painted and laser etched buttons, and was designed specifically for GPS and communications applications, along with off-road vehicles, material handling equipment and instrumentation panels.
“In some applications like GPS navigation, customers have requested a solution that can’t be accidentally actuated—especially if there is a “911” function on the device—while others require backlit illumination of the switches for various navigation functions for night use,” said Kyle Peterson, worldwide product manager for C&K Components.

“The versatile Quad Navigation switch assembly features four uniformly backlit tactile switches, with the option to have one of the switches recessed to prevent accidental actuation. With the additional features of the fully decorated face surface and a wire harness to plug into the receiver box, we are able to provide customers with a one-stop-shop solution to meet a variety of application needs.”

The Quad Navigation switch assembly features an operating force of 2N and minimum electrical and mechanical life to 30,000 cycles. Continuous operating voltage ranges from 10 to 30VDC, maximum switch current is 50mA and operating temperature ranges from -40ºC to +85ºC. The Quad switch assembly is constructed with a glass-filled PBT housing and PBT cover. The RoHS-compliant switch assembly is also available with custom graphics and colors.
