C&K Components has developed new silicone rubber sealing boots for its 7000 Series miniature, 9000 Series power, and military-qualified toggle switches. The new silicone rubber boots are used to seal the toggle switches to protect against contaminants such as salt water, lubricants, cleaning solvents, dust, dirt and grease.
“The new sealing boots allow a traditionally unsealed switch to achieve a minimum sealing level of IP65 and also creates a panel seal to prevent any liquids from entering the panel or enclosure,” said Kyle Peterson, worldwide product manager for C&K Components. “Because the silicone rubber boots allow a traditionally unsealed switch to withstand a number of environmental elements, they make the toggle switches ideal for use in a number of markets and applications including medical, military, commercial, boat and marine panels, industrial controls, food processing equipment, and off-highway and construction equipment.”

Made from silicone, the rubber boots feature a high tear strength along with a wide operating temperature range, allowing the sealing boots to remain pliable in cold weather applications. The silicone rubber boots are available in full- and half-boot versions to fit all 15/32” bushings as well as a full boot to fit all 1/4” bushings.
