MPUs are based on three Arm Cortex cores

Authorised distributor Mouser Electronics is now shipping the RZ/G3S microprocessors (MPUs) from Renesas Electronics.

The MPUs offer PCIe-supported 5G wireless connectivity and secure data transfer with variable low-power management for IoT edge, smart meters, smart homes, and tracking device applications.

These MPUs feature three Arm Cortex cores (1x Cortex-A55 CPU (1.1 GHz) and 2x Cortex-M33 CPUs(250 MHz) for real-time processing, a 16-bit LPDDR4/DDR4 interface and a built-in PCI Express interface that enables high-speed 5G wireless connectivity, with network communication options that support low-power mode.

The RZ/G3S delivers power savings to the MPU through partitioned power domains, with enhanced security features like tamper detection in low-power mode operation.

The Renesas RZ/G3S evaluation kit (RTK9845S33S01000BE), also available from Mouser, is designed in a SMARC form factor to evaluate the functionality of RZ/G3S devices.

This compact system is assembled with a power-efficient RZ/G3S MPU, offering PCIe-supported 5G wireless connectivity and secure data transfer to IoT networks, with low power management for battery efficiency.

Equipped with a SMARC carrier board and a module board, the kit features a broad set of interfaces providing sensor connectivity and network communication options.
