Kontron has expanded its product range with the introduction of touch displays that incorporate the Raspberry Pi CM4 module.

Kontron will exhibit the high-performance, high-resolution IPS 7” touch display, which is encased in an aluminium front frame, at the SPS 2023 event in Nuremberg. The DL 7" Pi-Tron CM4 is poised to facilitate complex visualisation tasks using the extensive software resources available from the Raspberry Pi community.

The addition of the high-calibre DL 7” Pi-Tron CM4 touch display enhances Kontron's Raspberry Pi product suite, offering a complementary option to its Board and Automation Lines – BL Pi-Tron CM4 and AL Pi-Tron CM4. This display is designed to operate as an independent user interface and is equally adept for use in control and communication tasks across various industrial sectors. The device features a PCAP multi-touch display with a resolution of 1024x600 pixels, showcasing superior optical performance.

Equipped with an HDMI 2.0 port capable of supporting up to 4Kp60, the panel allows for an additional HDMI monitor to be linked directly for mirrored or extended display options. The aluminium front frame, measuring 200.1 x 131.9 x 46.5mm, is rated IP65 on the front and IP20 on the reverse, making it suitable for switch cabinets, control consoles, and a variety of mounting scenarios. Optional expansions for wireless interfaces such as WLAN & Bluetooth are available, along with the provision for connecting an external antenna.

The Pi-Tron CM4 line is built on the fourth-generation compute module, boasting a Broadcom BCM2711, 4x Arm Cortex A72, 64-bit SoC processor at 1.5GHz, marking a significant performance leap from its predecessors. With a production guarantee in place until at least January 2028, the CM4 module benefits immensely from the extensive and supportive Raspberry Pi community that contributes software examples and compiled programs. Kontron Electronics is recognized as a Raspberry Pi Design Partner. The DL 7” Pi-Tron CM4 is slated for release in the second quarter of 2024.
