The MediaTek Genio 420 is a mainstream IoT application processor designed for embedded systems that require reliable compute, low power consumption, and on-device AI processing.

It is in stock authorised distributor DigiKey.

Built on a 6nm process, it combines an octa-core Arm CPU architecture with an integrated neural processing unit to support real-time inference without relying on Cloud resources. This makes it well-suited for connected products that must balance performance, responsiveness, and system cost.

At the core of the Genio 420 is a heterogeneous CPU configuration with Cortex-A78 and Cortex-A55 cores, paired with an Arm Mali-G57 GPU.

An 8th generation MediaTek neural processing unit (NPU) delivers up to 7.2 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of system-level AI acceleration, enabling common Edge workloads such as object detection, image classification, speech processing, and compact Generative AI models.

This architecture supports low latency operation while keeping power budgets under control.

The Genio 420 also fits into the broader Genio family with pin-to-pin and software compatibility across adjacent platforms, simplifying design reuse and scaling.

With support for modern memory interfaces, multiple display configurations up to ultrawide 5K, and a wide set of industrial I/O options, it provides a practical foundation for long lifecycle embedded products in commercial and industrial environments.
