WEG is celebrating the 25 year anniversary of its WEG Scandinavian branch which launched back in 1998.

As one of 13 successful European WEG branches and since then has celebrated a quarter of a century of successful innovation and growth.

The Scandinavian branch of WEG is well-placed to serve a region with a high demand for electrical motors and other industrial equipment, making it an important part of the company's global network.

Functioning as a distinct entity of WEG, WEG Scandinavia registered a phenomenal growth rate of 83.6% in the sales of electrical motors in 2022. This success marked it as the highest-performing branch on a global scale.

The branch is subdivided into several divisions, with electrical motors standing as a key one. Looking ahead, WEG Scandinavia's Managing Director, Anders Näzell, expressed his intent to concentrate on bolstering other Scandinavian divisions. Specifically, he highlighted the VFD division and the gears division as focal points for growth and development.

“VFDs are now widely used in Scandinavia to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions,” said Näzell. “I am particularly proud to see a trend where world-leading manufacturers in their respective fields are starting to use our products. It serves as a testament to the exceptional quality and reliability of WEG Scandinavia's offerings. Our Carbon Neutral Program aims to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 52% by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. WEG operations in Scandinavia is already on track to achieve a reduction in CO2 emissions of between 50-60% in the next couple of years. One of WEG’s main focuses is on sustainability and we want to be a leader in this field.”

In a bid to bolster future growth, WEG Scandinavia has also significantly invested in both its internal and external sales departments, bringing on board an expanded team of qualified engineers and seasoned professionals. This expansion includes the addition of three new senior hires, which is expected to enhance operational efficiency and support the managerial team in their efforts to steer their divisions to new heights.

As WEG Scandinavia celebrates its 25 year anniversary, the company is continuing to grow and expand. New sales offices are set to open in Kolding, Denmark, in July 2023, with plans for a similarly-equipped facility in Oslo, Norway, on the horizon.
