WEG supports hospital with emergency power
Motor and alternator manufacturer, WEG has supplied eight 1,700kVA alternators to provide emergency power to the Clinical Centre of Serbia’s newly-expanded facilities. At a time when hospitals globally are a focal point in the fight against COVID-19, this project highlights the importance of effective backup power systems to cover unexpected mains power failure.
WEG develops anti-viral coating to protect against COVID-19
Industrial equipment manufacturer, WEG has developed a new anti-viral coating from its WEG Coatings and Varnishes Unit in Brazil. Developed for use on professional machinery and equipment used in hospitals, laboratories and medical settings, the new coating reportedly makes 99.9% of coronavirus inactive within minutes of contact with the surface.
Coronavirus hospital benefits from air filtration installation
WEG has replaced the ventilation fan drive system at Manchester Central as part of an efficiency project to help the venue achieve ISO 20121 standard for sustainability. Now, as the venue is transformed into the NHS Nightingale North West, the air system must withstand the requirements of a much-needed temporary hospital.
Decentralised low power variable speed drives launched
WEG has launched a new member of the MW500 series of Variable Speed Drives (VSDs). Designed for decentralised installation, the MW500 VSDs are now available for operating induction motors with low power in the range of 370-550W.
Ultra-efficient electric propulsion systems for aircraft
WEG is teaming up with aircraft OEM Embraer to advance the aerospace industry toward the next generation of propulsion systems. The new agreement seeks to accelerate knowledge in the use and integration of electric motors in aircraft propulsion, which in turn will lead to deliverable benefits such as greater energy efficiency and better environmental sustainability.
How can digitalisation transform the role of maintenance professionals?
A new whitepaper has been launched by WEG, which covers the growth in influence of IIOT and, with the digitalisation of the electric motor, the impact this could have on the maintenance sector. Talking about its latest release at last week’s Give Me 5 event in London, WEG has launched a new paper entitled: ‘How digitalisation transforms the role of the maintenance professional’ which is available free to download at here.
Latest automation technology to showcase at SPS IPC Drives
WEG, a leading global manufacturer of motor and drive technology, will showcase its latest automation technology at this year’s SPS IPC Drives (in Nuremberg, Germany, on 22nd to 24th November).
Sugarcane renewable energy to generate 155GWh per year
An electrical solution for biomass energy generation has been designed and installed at a major sugarcane processing mill in Mexico by WEG. As the first cogeneration project in the country, the scheme reuses sugarcane bagasse as a renewable energy resource to generate nearly 155GWh per year, which would be enough to supply around 28,000 homes with power for 12 months.
WEG’s compact contactor brings ease-of-installation to the next level
WEG has launched a user-friendly and compact power contactor – the CWB80 – to help electrical engineers and installers save vital space in the cabinet while enhancing ease of installation. With a unit width of just 54mm and rated currents from 40 to 80A (three-phase AC, 400V), the CWB80 is more compact than conventional devices in the same power class (18.5 to 37kW), proving a versatile solution for a wide range of industrial applicat...
