Showing contract electronic manufacturers (CEMs) how they can boost productivity and profitability, in most cases without the need to make any major investment, is the subject of SMT assembly specialist Mycronic's series of Intelligent Factory Workshops.

Free of charge to attend, these workshops have been devised in response to research carried out by Mycronic and Mentor Graphics which revealed that productivity as low as 20% from SMT lines is common amongst CEMs. This low productivity is seriously impacting the CEMs’ profitability, as well as damaging their ability to compete in an increasingly tough market.

To address these issues, Mycronic has applied its SMT expertise to develop Mycronic 4.0, an initiative that is specifically designed to help CEMs boost the productivity of their SMT lines. At the Intelligent Factory Workshops, which are being held at the new Mycronic Experience Centre in Poole, Dorset, the Mycronic 4.0 initiative will be fully explained, and its benefits quantified.

The dynamic and interactive workshops will look at the Intelligent Factory concept and explore its relationship with Industry 4.0. The events will also show those attending how efficient their own machines could become, and help them to identify the productivity gaps and bottlenecks that, when addressed, could lead to dramatic gains in output and profitability.

The Mycronic Intelligent Factory Workshops run from 11:30 to 15:00.  As well as participating in the formal sessions, those attending will have ample time to discuss their own SMT operations with experts from Mycronic. The dates of the first three events are Tuesday, September 13th, Wednesday, October 12th and Wednesday, November 9th.
