Astute sponsors London Marathon’s #FridgeMan – and a marriage proposal!
Astute Group has sponsored Daniel Fairbrother, aka #FridgeMan in the London Marathon.
Fairbrother, from the company’s hometown of Stevenage, ran the London Marathon for charity while carrying a 26KG fridge named Tallulah.
He surpassed himself raising a fantastic £12,000 for Diabetes UK.
Just to up the ante, he stopped near Big Ben, got down on one knee, and proposed to his girlfriend, Hayley, in front of a cheering crowd.
She said yes!
“It was the right time, it was a big stage, it was a big achievement and I thought, what better time?” Daniel told the BBC. “Today’s been tough, I’m not going to lie – and the only thing that got me through was knowing that Hayley was there waiting at Big Ben.”
What you might call an Astute decision!
Basking in the occasion, he reflected, “Considering I’ve just run the marathon with a fridge on my back, I feel pretty good.”
Daniel then announced that he and Tallulah are already signed up for their next race — a 100km ultra-marathon in the Peak District.
Astute Group donated £1000 to help Daniel raise money for Diabetes UK.
