Timesys Joins Linux Foundation

The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of Linux, today announced that Timesys Corporation is its newest member. Timesys has been providing Linux offerings for more than 15 years and was one of the first companies to market with an open source, commercial-grade, embedded Linux development framework (LinuxLink). Timesys is joining The Linux Foundation to collaborate on initiatives that help provide tools and resources designed to ease embedded Linux development.

“The Linux Foundation is playing a key role in helping the embedded Linux market segment successfully reach maturity, and we want to signal our ongoing commitment to helping advance that agenda while contributing to important initiatives that make embedded Linux development easy,” said Atul Bansal, CEO, Timesys Corporation.

As the adoption of embedded Linux grows in industries ranging from telecom and automotive to medical, government and manufacturing, there are increased competitive pressures to bring differentiated products to market faster. This is taking place in parallel with an increasing demand for experienced embedded Linux developers. There is a clear need for open collaboration on tools and resources that allow developers to easily build embedded devices.
