Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (Nasdaq: CY) today announced that Pioneer has selected its CapSense® solution to implement the capacitive touch-sensing controls in the SD8200 family of cordless digital phones. A single CapSense device controls 22 capacitive buttons on the phones, including illuminating the buttons when selected.
Cypress is the worldwide leader in capacitive touch-sensing with the industry’s broadest portfolio. Its PSoC®-based CapSense devices offer unmatched flexibility and integration, addressing a broad range of designs from complex, feature-rich applications to simple button replacement. The easy-to-use solution offers leading noise immunity and water-resistance for reliable operation.

The SD8200 phones have built-in answering machines for maximum convenience. They offer numerous features to ensure high voice quality, including click cancelling, electrical wave monitoring, and interference avoidance by switching channels in the crowded 2.4-GHz range.

“In addition to providing outstanding voice quality, we wanted to offer a product that was very attractive and intuitive to use,” said Mr. Takatera, senior engineer for Pioneer. “CapSense helped us to meet those objectives.”

“We continue to add new customers and applications to the roster of satisfied CapSense customers,” said Dirk Franklin, director of Cypress’s CapSense Business Unit. “These Pioneer phones showcase the outstanding touch performance and noise immunity of the CapSense solution.”

“We are pleased and proud to be included in the SD8200 product line,” said Hitoshi Yoshizawa, Japan country manager for Cypress. “By offering premier product performance and service, we’re able to work with the leading Japanese manufacturers such as Pioneer.”
