Inertial Aerosystems has announced the availability of enhanced performance versions of two of its established high tech products. Manufactured by Netherlands based Xsens, the MTi and MTi-G are miniature gyro operated Attitude and Heading Reference Systems (AHRS). The enhancements are derived from a new sensor fusion algorithm and hardware improvements.
The MTi provides drift free 3D orientation, as well as calibrated 3D acceleration, rate of turn and magnetic heading at a 100Hz data rate.

The enhancements include improved heading performance, especially within a magnetic disturbed environment, and better data integrity during periodic accelerations and very slow rotations. Also Included are new gyroscopes with 50% lower signal noise and an option for an 18g accelerometer range.

The MTI-G has all the performance of the MTi but includes an integrated GPS, static pressure sensor and Kalman filtering. Position, velocity and altitude are provided in addition to all the features of the MTi

Enhancements include improved use of the GPS signal, which results in better orientation performance plus all of the MTi improvements.

Weighing approx. 68 g and measuring 58 x 58 x 33mm (MTi-G) the units are suitable for use where space and weight are at a premium, and can operate in tough environments within a temperature of-20 to +55 degC.

Typical applications can be found in the robotics, aerospace, automotive and marine industries, as well as pedestrian navigation and virtual reality
