The Nanotechnology Knowledge Transfer Network (NanoKTN), one of the UK’s primary knowledge-based networks for Micro- and Nanotechnologies, is pleased to announce details of its Nanotechnology workshops to be held at this year’s S2K conference, Europe’s leading conference for the Semiconductor, Nanotechnology and MEMS industry. The theme of this year’s event will be on the future manufacturing processes that will enable the next generation of electronics.
/> Dr Alec Reader, Director of The NanoKTN said, “The Nanotechnology workshops will highlight and illustrate how the advances in nanotechnologies are being employed to create new and exciting applications within the electronics industry. We also hope they will provide new partnerships and business opportunities to fill urgent gaps in the supply chain that can be addressed by harnessing nanotechnology in electronics.”

Workshop One: Nanotechnology Advances for Plastic Electronics, in association with Electronics Sensors Photonics KTN and JEMI UK.

Advances in nanotechnology are moving hand in hand with applications for plastic electronics. There is a wide and growing list of applications that realise electronics based on novel material formulations, used in a wide range of applications, making new devices and performance improvements possible. These include: hybrid logic and memory, carbon nanotubes in smart textiles, disease and bacteria detection, solar cell technologies, graphene in solar cells and barrier layers.

This workshop will explore how advances in Nanotechnologies are being employed to make plastic electronics more viable with practical examples and evidence from the line up of speakers which includes Plasma Quest, Pragmatic Printing, Intrinsiq Materials and the Universities of Surrey, Swansea and Leeds.
The target audience for the workshop includes: all technologists, companies and individuals involved in nanotechnology, plastic electronics or the manufacture of novel devices or processes.
