Mouser Electronics is helping develop new programs to support young design engineers with the challenges of designing “what’s next.” These educational programs encourage technical free-thinking and innovation in design. Two programs that stand out are the WMR Rescue Robot Project and the UCLA Rocket Project.

Mouser is an official sponsor of the WMR Rescue Robot Project team competing in the 2011 global competition held in Magdeburg, Germany. Warwick Mobile Robotics is an on-going student research project within the University of Warwick dedicated to improving organizational competitiveness through the application of technological innovation. The robot designs will be used to advance research into functional applications that will help bring aid to disaster victims around the globe.

Mouser’s sponsorship of the UCLA Rocket Project is enabling a group of undergraduate and graduate students of the UCLA Rocket Project Team in California to independently design, manufacture, and launch a HyPE (Hybrid Propulsion Experiment) engine-driven rocket in the advanced division of the Inter Collegiate Rocket Competition.

“Mouser is proud to help inspire the innovations of the next generation,” says Larry Johannes, Mouser’s Vice President of Strategic Marketing. “This company has always been driven by the desire to put the newest and most advanced electronic resources in the hands of the industry’s best design engineers, young and old. We are delighted to sponsor the WMR Rescue Robot Project Team and the UCLA Rocket Project Team as they push the boundaries of functional robotics and hybrid rocket propulsion. These students are the next generation of top design engineers and it is important that we support them now and as their careers develop.”

With its broad product line and unsurpassed customer service, Mouser caters to design engineers and buyers by delivering What’s Next in advanced technologies.
