FMC module integrates HDL code & software drivers for rapid design
A FMC module, integrated with HDL code and software drivers for rapid design prototyping and interoperability with Xilinx FPGAs, has been launched by Analog Devices. Available immediately, the AD-FMCADC2-EBZ board provides superior wideband dynamic performance and integrated functionality and enables development and prototyping of advanced RF sampling architectures.
Software enables quick MAX 10 FPGA design
Enabling designers to start their MAX 10 FPGA designs immediately, Altera have announced the availability of Quartus II beta software and early access documentation for MAX 10 FPGAs. Based on TSMC’s 55nm embedded flash process technology, MAX 10 FPGAs revolutionize non-volatile FPGA integration by delivering advanced processing capabilities into a small form factor, low-cost, instant-on programmable logic device.
FPGA/SOC devices embrace bump-based packaging technology
Altera’s 20nm Arria 10 FPGAs and SoCs are now available in TSMC’s patented, fine-pitch copper bump-based packaging technology. Altera is the first company to adopt this technology in commercial production. “TSMC has provided a very advanced and robust integrated package solution for our Arria 10 devices, the highest-density monolithic 20 nm FPGA die in the industry,” said Bill Mazotti, vice president of worldwide operation...
14nm-based FPGA test chips successfully demonstrated
FPGA technology, based on Intel’s 14nm Tri-Gate process, has been successfully demonstrated by Altera. The 14nm-based FPGA test chips incorporate key IP components – transceivers, mixed-signal IP and digital logic – used in Stratix 10 FPGAs and SoCs.
Hardened floating-point DSP blocks are IEEE 754-compliant
Altera is industry's first programmable logic company to integrate hardened IEEE 754-compliant, floating-point operators in an FPGA, delivering unparallelled levels of DSP performance, designer productivity and logic efficiency. The hardened floating point DSP blocks are integrated in Altera’s 20nm Arria 10 FPGAs and SoCs, as well as 14nm Stratix 10 FPGAs and SoCs.
E-book opens way to FPGA in-line, in-system programming
Programming memory on the manufacturing line after the devices have been soldered to a circuit board must be accomplished quickly to keep pace with the assembly process. Unfortunately, the capacity of flash has got so large and the amount of data being programmed into them so extensive that the process has slowed considerably.
FPGA family 'breaks the rules' of conventional FPGAs
Reducing development risk and quickly overcoming time-to-market challenges, the ECP5 FPGA family claims that it 'breaks the rules' of conventional FPGA approaches to deliver a SERDES-based solution for designers. The device family, from Lattice Semiconductor, rapidly add features and functions to complement those delivered by ASICs and ASSPs. The devices are designed for small-cell, microserver, broadband access, industrial video a...
Power conversion solution for high-performance FPGAs
Simplifying the design of point-of-load power solutions, a power conversion solution has been announced by Altera. Comprising a monolithic 40A driver plus synchronous MOSFET powertrain, the solution is optimised to meet the core requirements of Altera's high-performance Stratix V, Arria 10, and Stratix 10 FPGAs and SoCs.
Software enables FPGA use in control tasks
The XSG AC Motor Control (XSG = Xilinx System Generator) Library software, from dSpace, aims to develop control systems for electric drives. The library enables engineers to program Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) for use in control tasks with dSPACE MicroAutoBox II and SCALEXIO systems, as well as modular dSPACE hardware.
FPGA Mezzanine Carriers are based on Xilinx FPGAs
Based on Xilinx All Programmable FPGAs, VadaTech announces a full suite of Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC) modules. These single-width AMCs are available in versions that include Virtex-5, Virtex-6, Artix-7, Kintex-7 and Virtex-7 FPGAs, as well as Zynq All Programmable SoCs, from Xilinx.
