Following the growing market demand and recent expansion of RetCAD - Thirona's flagship AI solution for eye disease screening – Thirona decided to spin out its Retina division into Thirona Retina BV, as per January 1st, 2023.  

Thirona has developed an AI algorithm that hopes to change cystic fibrosis (CF) care. The new algorithm, coined PRAGMA-AI, allows for fast, automated analysis of CT scans of patients with CF to detect and quantify lung abnormalities related to CF.

With the COVID-19 pandemic on-going, Thirona has announced a new collaboration to further improve and accelerate detection of the virus. SmartCAD | COVID-19 is a software product that combines Thirona’s CAD4COVID-CT algorithm with the popular COVID-19 reporting template developed by digital health company, Smart Reporting.

Thirona has launched their AI software for COVID-19 triage based on CT scans on Monday. The new solution, called CAD4COVID-CT, follows their recent launch of CAD4COVID for X-ray images. Both solutions have been made available free of charge and are aimed at reducing the workload of clinicians and health workers. 

Thirona and Delft Imaging have launched CAD4COVID. This new artificial intelligence tool analyses X-ray images and is intended to support healthcare specialists manage COVID-19 cases. The companies have made the tool available free-of-charge in support of the crisis.

Thirona, Quirem and Radboudumc have successfully joined forces in the Radiology of the Future project. All three partners are situated in the East of the Netherlands and each has access to knowledge, skills and expertise in the area of smart and fast medical image analysis processing.
