Ramtron International Corporation has announced that its FM24CL16 – a 16Kbit, 3V serial FRAM memory device – has been qualified to AEC-Q100 (Automotive Electronic Council’s Stress Test Qualification for Integrated Circuits) standards. Ramtron is pursuing plans to grow a broad line of AEC-Q100-qualified FRAM products to meet the design and sourcing challenges of the automotive market. This qualification program has been developed to support a number of customer design-ins from in-cab applications to the vehicle’s most stringent environments.

Ramtron at electronica

Ramtron International Corporation will showcase its new FRAM-Enhanced FM3130 Processor Companion and two new 512 kilobit serial non-volatile FRAM (ferroelectric random access memory) devices, the FM25L512 and the FM24C512, at Electronica 2006 (stand A5.321). Also featured at Electronica will be the first 8051-based microcontroller with FRAM, the VRS51L3074.

Ramtron has launched the FM3130, a 64 kilobit, 3-volt FRAM-Enhanced Processor Companion product that combines the benefits of non-volatile ferroelectric RAM with an integrated real-time clock/calendar in one tiny package. The FM3130 has been streamlined to further reduce system cost and board space in consumer and computing markets, supporting commonly-needed system functions in applications such as printers and high-definition televisions, without the need for discrete components.

Ramtron has launched the FM25L512, a 512 kilobit, 3V non-volatile FRAM device with a high-speed serial peripheral interface (SPI). The FM25L512 provides increased data collection and storage capacity in a tiny, 8-pin package, cutting costs and board space in a range of applications from multi-function printers to industrial motor controllers.

Ramtron to showcase line of automotive FRAM memory parts at Convergence 2006

Ramtron International has announced plans to exhibit at Convergence 2006 from October 16 to 18 in Detroit, USA, where it will preview its line of FRAM devices to be qualified for AEC Q100. Convergence is a premier automotive electronics conference that unites the world’s leading electronics technologists, engineers, and business executives to discuss significant topics related to the future of electronics in automobiles. This year’s theme is “Convergence Reinvents the Automobile” and the conference will explore the powerful convergence of advanced electronics, propulsion, materials and telematics. Convergence 2006 will take place at the Cobo Center in Detroit, Michigan.

Ramtron International has previewed its new VRS51L2xxx at the Embedded Systems Conference in San Jose, California. The VRS51L2xxx, which is the newest series in the Versa 8051 MCU family, is a fully integrated, high performance system-on-chip with an advanced 40-MIPS, single cycle 8051-core, a JTAG program/debug interface, digital signal processing (DSP) extensions and a robust digital peripheral set.
