Design tool synthesises low latency and delay circuits

Fabless IC vendor in Taiwan, Faraday Technology Corporation, has been provided with NEC Corporation's CyberWorkBench, a design tool capable of synthesising Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC)/Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) circuits from the C programming language. Faraday is utilising CyberWorkBench (CWB) to design FPGA for communication control.

Spin Seebeck thermoelectric device improves efficiency

NEC Corporation, NEC TOKIN Corporation and TOHOKU UNIVERSITY have jointly created a thermoelectric (TE) device using thermoelectric conversion technology. The spin Seebeck effect has conversion efficiency ten times higher than the conventional method.

KT and NEC test 5G solution using E-band spectrum

NEC announced the successful completion of a PoC trial with KT for a 5G wireless backhaul solution that utilizes E-Band spectrum (70-80GHz). The PoC was conducted at Phoenix Park Ski World in PyeongChang, South Korea, using KT's commercial mobile network infrastructure. KT aims to launch 5G trial services in 2018. This PoC is based on a collaboration agreement in the field of 5G networks signed between KT and NEC in August 2015.

MWC 2016: Massive-element antenna aimed at 5G base stations

A prototype of an A4-sized massive-element Active Antenna System (AAS) for 5G small cell base stations was demonstrated at Mobile Wold Congress by NEC. The low-SHF band-compatible AAS combines the antenna and RF components through the use of a newly developed high-density printed circuit board and an IC that integrates the high radio frequency circuit with the digital circuit, achieving the practical compact size.

NEC to build 'SKR1M' submarine cable system in Malaysia

NEC has announced the signing of a contract with Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) and TT dotCom Sdn Bhd (TTdC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of TIME dotCom Berhad (TIME), to construct the Sistem Kabel Rakyat 1 Malaysia (SKR1M), an optical submarine cable system that will connect Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.

Codec achieves low delay compression in approximately 20ms

NEC has announced the global launch of the VC-870 encoder and VD-870 decoder, a series of ultra-low delay codec that enable real-time compression of full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixel) digital video.
