The Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) show is a biennial platform for the display of defence and security equipment and services from around the world. September 2019 marks DSEI’s 20th year, and provides the opportunity to showcase the developments and innovations which are revolutionising and modernising the defence and security sectors.

The debut of the DSEI Space Hub at DSEI 2019 will represent an opportunity for industry specialists, delegates and the MoD to look to the future and discuss the capabilities and challenges offered through the rapidly-growing space sector. The sector’s UK income currently stands at £14.8billion, and it looks set to increase its presence in the defence industry as next-generation technology and threats continue to emerge. 

To mark its twentieth anniversary, the organisers of Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) have launched a podcast series titled 'Defence and Security Debates'. The series includes four 'round table' panel discussions with leading voices from the UK defence and security community, including: senior military, government officials, Defence Ministers, Members of Parliament and industry figureheads from DSEI’s core exhibitor base.

The Japanese Ministries of Defence, Foreign Affairs, and the Acquisition, Technology and Logistics Agency have officially given their backing to the country’s first fully integrated defence event, DSEI Japan, taking place from 18th to 20th November. The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defence have confirmed their official support for the first DSEI Japan.

As this year will mark 20 years since the start of the DSEI shows, the UK defence industry can look at not just how the sector has developed in this time, but also what to expect from the next 20 years. So, it is fitting that the RAF has announced the theme of its first DSEI Aerospace Capability Conference as, ‘Delivering the Next Generation Air Force’.

  Clarion Events has announced that Airbus will return to DSEI in September and exhibit in the newly created Space Hub, which will be located within DSEI’s Aerospace Zone. The Space Hub will feature companies in both space and defence sectors, offering a dedicated platform for network and collaboration.

Originally established as the British Army and Navy Exhibition, DSEI has a strong naval heritage and has historically been a showcase for cutting-edge maritime technology. This includes the impressive array of warships that traditionally visit DSEI, providing an opportunity for the DSEI audience to see first-hand the remarkable vessels in operation with different international navies.

  Defence and Security Equipment International is a defence and security event which takes place 12th-15th September 2017 at ExCeL London. The event promises a programme of senior military and government representatives who will deliver keynote addresses on the most pressing defence and security topics.

In an age of increasingly complex challenges and global uncertainty, military allies are now collaborating to protect mutual strategic interests and maintain robust defence and security capabilities. Where traditionally Defence ministries would seek to support their requirements internally, they now look much further afield to encourage knowledge and skills transfer, and help grow their industry, economy and resources.
