Load switch provides 36mΩ in 0.76×0.76mm package

Offering a 2A, 1.1-3.6V power rail with controlled turn-on and -off profiles, the SC724, SC725, SC728 and SC729 load switches have been introduced by Semtech. The SC72X family is suitable for portable applications, including wearable electronics, portable video cameras, smartphones and tablets, as well as non-portable applications such as HDTVs, set-top boxes and networking devices.

The SC72X devices feature on-resistance of just 36mΩ in a tiny CSP measuring 0.76×0.76×0.60mm with a four-bump connection at a pitch of 0.5mm.

The SC724 and SC728 provide fast turn-on of just 19.5µs (at 1.8Vin) and float the output when disabled, while the SC725 and SC729 provide slower turn-on of 490µs (at 1.8Vin) and discharge the output when disabled. The load switches are ESD hardened to greater than 3kV for robust circuit protection.

Andy Khayat, Senior Director, Consumer Power, Power Management Products Group, Semtech, comments: “The SC72X load switch family enables tiny circuit footprints and increases performance for high 2A current, low 36mΩ Ron and extensive protection. Customers can now achieve super small designs with extended battery life and high reliability.”

Semtech’s SC724, SC725, SC728 and SC729 load switches are available now in production quantities, priced at $0.32 each in 5,000 unit reels.
