The regulator has an ultralow quiescent current of 7 (operating) and 1µA (in shutdown), making it particularly suitable for battery-powered memory ‘keep alive’ systems that require optimal run time.
Offered in a miniature low-profile 5-lead ThinSOT package, the LT3014B is the smallest 80V LDO on the market. The device operates with small, low cost ceramic output capacitors, featuring stability with only 0.47µF on the output. Unlike in other regulators, the external capacitors can be used without any series resistance.
Reverse-battery protection, current limiting, thermal limiting, and reverse current protection are offered with the regulator. The LT3014BMPS5, which operates across a junction temperature range of -55 to +125°C, is available now, priced at $4.20 each and sold in 1,000-piece quantities.
