Designed for applications in the 860-960MHz band, the battery free pressure sensor tag features a reading distance of around 1.5m (5ft). It can be embedded in a wide variety of materials such as plastics or concrete and comes in a variety of antenna designs. Evaluation kits are available.
Cyclon tags can be used without batteries at all, allowing for a wide range of applications where the accessibility is restricted. For example, when used in TPMSs in cars to monitor wheel pressure, the lack of batteries inside the tire reduces weight – which generates vibrations at high speeds and increases the risk of accidents – and eliminates the cost of disposal of batteries once the device is discarded.
Alternatively, the Cyclon-700A is available which covers the same range with an analogue sensor for a reduced accuracy and price. The Cyclon-30BA is also available. It includes an MS5803-30BA sensor to cover ranges up to 30bar.
