XP Power introduces the APM240 series of 240W external desktop AC-DC power supplies that simplify integration in medical, home healthcare, and industrial applications. The adapters are designed for engineers developing patient treatment, patient monitoring, and surgical robots, as well as industrial robotics and process control equipment. The series combines high power density, global compliance, and high energy efficiency in a compact, easy-to-deploy format.

Measuring just 168.0 x 73.0 x 31.5mm (6.61” x 2.87” x 1.24”), the units are among the smallest 240W desktop adapters available, offering a significantly reduced footprint compared to similarly rated alternatives. This compact size helps minimise footprint in space-constrained environments such as medical carts and industrial workspaces.

Based on GaN technology, the series achieves up to 94% efficiency, reducing heat generation and improving long-term reliability. A universal input range of 80 to 264VAC enables global use, while output options from 12VDC to 54VDC provide flexibility across a wide range of applications. Compliance with energy efficiency level VI, with level VII readiness, combined with no-load power consumption of less than 0.15W, helps designers meet evolving energy regulations and reduce overall energy consumption.

Medical safety approvals including 2 x MOPP isolation (4kVAC input to output) and patient leakage current of less than 100µA support integration into BF-rated equipment. Reinforced isolation, with standard Class I and optional Class II construction, enhances safety.

A gasketed enclosure rated to IP22 improves durability in home healthcare environments, while Class B conducted and radiated emissions help minimise the need for additional external EMC filtering. Comprehensive protection features, including short circuit, overvoltage, and overload protection, enhance system reliability. Other features include ITE safety approvals, no minimum load requirement, an LED power ON indicator for quick status confirmation, an operating temperature range of -30°C to +60°C, and a three-year warranty.

The APM240 is available from Avnet Abacus, DigiKey, Distrelec, Farnell, Mouser, RS, TME, approved regional distributors, or direct from XP Power with a 3-year warranty.
