Apple has unveiled the iPhone Air, the thinnest iPhone ever produced, delivering pro-level performance in a sleek, lightweight design. The device introduces a titanium frame that combines elegance with strength, alongside an innovative internal architecture to support the latest iPhone experiences.
The back of iPhone Air is now shielded with Ceramic Shield, while the front uses Ceramic Shield 2, providing three times better scratch resistance than previous models. The 6.5” Super Retina XDR display features ProMotion with an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz, delivering smoother scrolling and visuals.
“The all-new iPhone Air is so powerful, yet impossibly thin and light, that you really have to hold it to believe it’s real. This huge leap in design and engineering is only made possible through Apple innovation, especially Apple silicon,” said John Ternus, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering. “iPhone Air is a brand-new member of the iPhone family that delivers advanced features our users will love, like pro performance, a versatile 48MP Fusion camera system, our innovative Centre Stage front camera, and great all-day battery life – all in a breakthrough design that feels like you’re holding the future.”
Breakthrough design
Measuring just 5.6mm, iPhone Air is not only the thinnest iPhone ever but also light. Its grade 5 titanium frame features a high-gloss mirror finish, while a precision-milled plateau on the back houses the cameras, speaker, and Apple silicon, maximising battery space.
The device includes an Action button for quick access to functions and Camera Control for instant photo and video capture. The display offers 3,000 nits peak brightness outdoors and twice the contrast of previous iPhones. Ceramic Shield 2 on the front and Ceramic Shield on the back deliver four times better resistance to cracks, making iPhone Air the most durable iPhone to date.
Advanced camera capabilities
iPhone Air introduces a square Centre Stage front camera with an 18MP sensor, wide field of view, and AI-powered framing for group shots. It supports ultra-stabilised 4K HDR video, Dual Capture for simultaneous front and rear recording, and advanced video calling.
The 48MP Fusion Main camera covers four lenses’ worth of functionality, with 28mm and 35mm focal lengths, a large quad-pixel sensor, and 2x optical Telephoto. A new image pipeline enables next-generation Portraits with Focus Control, while the Photographic Styles feature a new Bright option for more vivid skin tones and colours. Video capture supports 4K60 fps Dolby Vision, Action mode, Spatial Audio, Audio Mix, and wind noise reduction.
Apple silicon powers performance
The A19 Pro, N1, and C1X chips make iPhone Air the most power-efficient iPhone ever, with a six-core CPU, five-core GPU, and Neural Accelerators delivering up to three times the peak GPU compute. N1 supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, while C1X offers double the speed of the previous modem with 30% less energy consumption.
All-day battery life and eSIM connectivity
Apple’s internal architecture and software optimisations enable all-day battery life. iOS 26’s Adaptive Power Mode predicts usage patterns to conserve energy. The eSIM-only design enhances security and flexibility, supporting over 500 carriers worldwide, and simplifies connectivity during travel.
iOS 26 and Apple Intelligence
iOS 26 introduces a new Liquid Glass design, Live Translation, improved visual intelligence, and on-device foundation models for developers. New features include enhanced CarPlay, Apple Music, Maps, Wallet, and a dedicated Apple Games app.
Accessories and sustainability
Apple launched a new range of iPhone Air accessories, including MagSafe cases, bumpers, crossbody straps, and a MagSafe Battery that provides up to 40 hours of video playback.
The iPhone Air is produced with 35% recycled content, including 80% recycled titanium and 100% recycled cobalt in the battery. A new 3D-printed titanium USB-C port uses 33% less material, and 45% of manufacturing electricity comes from renewable sources. The packaging is fully fibre-based and recyclable.
