PIN diode switches feature high port-to-port isolation

A family of PIN diode switches, featuring high port-to-port isolation, has been introduced by Pasternack Enterprises. With a frequency range of 1-12GHz, the switches provide port-to-port isolation of more than 90dB at 1-2GHz, 80dB at 2-4GHz and 75dB at 6-12GHz. Depending on the frequency, insertion loss varies between 1.0dB and 2.5dB and switching speed between 35 and 75ns.

Designed with complementary-metal–oxide–semiconductor transistor–transistor logic drivers, the diode switches are matched internally for 50Ω input and output, eliminating the need for any additional sensitive RF tuning components.

Housed in SMA-connected casings that are built to withstand a wide operating temperature range of -54 to +85°C, the switches are suitable for use in many common defence and commercial applications.

“Our new offering of high isolation switches are an important addition to our growing active RF component portfolio,” explains Michael Rachlin, Director of Product Management, Pasternack. “By making a large library of active components available from stock, Pasternack is helping RF engineers test their concepts and ideas more rapidly and complete their projects on time.”
