To help increase productivity, the icon-based Simplicity Studio console auto-configures in response to user selection of a target microcontroller from a drop-down menu. The console then provides the user only with the development support options applicable to his microcontroller and can be further customised using a simple add/remove function. A key time-saving role of Simplicity Studio is to ensure users stay automatically up-to-date with all of the changes affecting their own development environment. Users therefore receive alerts for example concerning new software releases, documentation and firmware updates and can access a change-log identifying exactly what has been updated. The Simplicity Studio console also acts as a communication channel between Energy Micro and its customers, delivering relevant news about the company, its products and events and handling technical support queries and bug reporting.
Simplicity Studio also brings together Energy Micro’s expanding portfolio of free energy saving tools. energyAware™ Commander, the latest tool to be added, provides a highly intuitive programming interface for controlling EFM32 development kit firmware upgrades, microcontroller program transfer and debug access. It joins the pioneering energyAware Profiler, a power debugger for optimising code for best possible energy usage, and energyAware Designer, for handling the traditionally time-consuming problem of debugging I/O pin conflicts.
