adidas and Zound Industries reveal the all new adidas RPT02 SOL wireless headphones. Built in part from recycled plastics and powered by light, the adidas RPT-02 SOL are self-charging sport headphones.

In partnership with Swedish solar technology innovators Exeger, the adidas RPT-02 SOL headband features the tech manufacturer’s light cell material Powerfoyle. The technology is designed to harvest energy from natural and artificial light, providing the headphones with an abundance of playtime and the ability to charge on the go without the use of cables. Users can rely on the power of light to level up their performance.

“At Exeger we’re passionate about developing technologies that benefit both users and the planet,” said Giovanni Fili, CEO and Founder of Exeger. “We’re so excited to partner with adidas Headphones and see our Powerfoyle technology come to life through consumer electronics that will be used by people in their everyday lives.”

The headphones are equipped with an innovative light indicator on the headband that helps to detect the strongest light possible for the best charge. Through the adidas Headphone app, users are able to track their charge and battery status in real-time.

“Light has always been a positive source of energy for people and now we can rely on it to power headphones,” said Anders Olsson, Product Manager at Zound Industries. “It’s important that we continue to develop best in class innovation and push the boundaries of wearable technology. Creating adidas RPT-02 SOL allows us to test those limits and keep the music going so that athletes can focus on their performance, without worrying about the battery running out.”

The adidas RPT-02 SOL retails for £199.95 and is designed with advanced technology and quality materials. Key details of the new headphones include:

  • Self-charging: Featuring Exeger's light cell material, Powerfoyle, the adidas RPT-02 SOL transforms all forms of light into battery life.
