The Vector firmware for Hardware Security Modules (HSM), MICROSAR HSM, has been officially certified according to ISO/SAE 21434.

With this certification, the international software provider is emphasising its commitment to offering cybersecurity solutions that meet the highest international standards.

ISO/SAE 21434 is the standard for cybersecurity risk management in road vehicles. It ensures that vehicles meet strict security requirements throughout their entire life cycle.

The ISO/SAE 21434 certification of the MICROSAR HSM firmware confirms the use of state-of-the-art processes in automotive cybersecurity. The product documentation offers detailed integration instructions, enabling ECU developers to integrate the software efficiently and seamlessly into their systems. This certification also helps to successfully meet the high requirements of the supply chain for type approval of vehicles worldwide. In addition to the Cybersecurity Management System (CSMS) certification, Vector now also offers product-specific certification in accordance with ISO/SAE 21434 to support the implementation of UN Regulation No. 155 (R155).

Hardware Security Modules are a central component of modern ECUs. They protect systems against unauthorised access and manipulation. The MICROSAR HSM firmware provides cryptographic services and accesses the available hardware resources of the HSM. With basic cryptographic functions, a secure key memory, and secure boot mechanisms, the firmware optimises the protection of ECUs against cyber attacks.

Modern vehicles are increasingly networked, permanently online and regularly receive over-the-air updates - similar to PCs or mobile devices. This also increases the risk of targeted cyberattacks. Reliable cybersecurity is therefore an indispensable key to safe vehicle development.
