How to manufacture solar cells and solar modules more efficiently

Kontron offers industrial software for cross-industry automation solutions through its subsidiary, Kontron AIS GmbH.

The latest release, FabEagleMES v4.2, introduces new features specifically designed to enhance the efficient production of solar cells and solar modules.

The updated FabEagleMES manufacturing execution system includes three key new features tailored to meet the needs of rapidly growing solar cell and module manufacturing with production capacities of at least 1GW. The MES supports critical production steps with traceability and process monitoring, aiding in quality assurance, process optimisation, and cost reduction.

One of the new features is active transport control for configurable material deployment in complex material flow systems within solar module factories. Production routing and process machines are managed based on product type, quality, and status information, accommodating standard processes as well as bypass and unloading requirements. This flexibility enables quick adaptation to changing production demands while optimising processes.

Another enhancement is the module defect report, a standardised tool for evaluating product defects from inspection and rework stations at the cell and string levels. A heat map overview visualises data according to location, defect code, and frequency, enabling real-time monitoring to swiftly identify and address production issues.

Long-term data storage is crucial for solar cell and module production. The advanced data history feature, based on data lake technology, optimises data formats for easy evaluation using standardised toolsets. Combined with machine data on quality, tracking, and performance, this provides a robust foundation for comprehensive data analysis and process control. This ensures expanded analysis capabilities and full compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

These new features make FabEagleMES v4.2 a powerful tool for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of solar cell and module production.
