Optical communications systems transfer data using a combination of various active optical devices, including optical transceivers, EDFAs, etc. Conventionally, optical device makers use optical spectrum analyzers (OSAs) to evaluate the output characteristics of the various active optical devices, and as optical systems have become more widespread, there is increasing need to increase competitiveness by reducing manufacturing costs.
Anritsu developed the MS9740A to meet this need with strengthened performance including 80% faster measurement processing from waveform sweeping thru analysis and saving results files. In addition to slashing measurement times, the design incorporates simplified measurement procedures to increase productivity on active optical device production lines.
