Continental is bundling everything it has in terms of electronics, instrumentation and ergonomics in a new cockpit for buses and coaches. With its flexible instrument cluster, versatile design and ample scope for additional, mobile terminals, it complements the existing portfolio of Classic and Individual models beautifully. With it, Continental offers automotive manufacturers an ideal solution for equipping buses and special vehicles.
Driver’s Workplace+ is a clear step forward in terms of design and flexibility and comes in response to a long-cherished wish by customers and the VDV (Association of German Transport Companies) concerning cockpits: it features state-of-the-art technology, is custom-built and comes complete with an instrument cluster. The design is in line with current trends, streamlined, rounded, with attractive air vents and, for the first time, a custom-designed dashboard cover which can be matched to bus or transport company colors to best effect. Moreover, Continental has equipped the new cockpit with holders and ports for mobile terminals, allowing phones, satellite navigation terminals, fleet management computers and toll terminals to be placed, charged and used safely within sight and reach of the driver.

Driver’s Workplace+ complements Continental’s existing product line, which already includes the largely standardized – and thus enduring – Classic and Individual cockpits. The latter is the same modular all-rounder it ever was and can be built from a choice of modules to suit individual customer wishes, actively contributing to saving developing costs and time.

What sets all Continental cockpits apart is their perfect ergonomics and their deep-seated integration into the vehicle. For example, Continental’s solutions guarantee ideal work conditions as laid down in the VDV 234 recommendation, as its cockpits let you adjust not only the height and angle of the steering wheel but also those of the instrument holders. Regardless of whether the driver measures 5'' 2' or 6'' 5' – he or she will be sitting comfortably.

But this flexibility is not just restricted to the instrument holders and steering wheel in a Continental cockpit. The dashboard displays can also be custom-configured, ensuring that they are exactly in line with the individual needs of vehicle manufacturers or operators. At the same time, with its optional tachometer for coaches Continental not only takes specific applications into account, but also the needs of manufacturers and end customers, not to mention the many and diverse legal stipulations and the wishes of the transport associations.

By installing Continental cockpits, vehicle manufacturers benefit not only from the supplier’s technical competence and experience, but also from Continental’s rapid order management concept, cost-effectiveness and professional development process based on automotive standards.
