International Rectifier today introduced the IRS2052M 2-Channel Class D Audio IC for high performance home theater systems and car audio amplifiers.
The new 200 V device integrates two channels into a single IC. Features include selectable deadtime and programmable bi-directional over-current protection, integrated clock oscillator and click-less start and stop.

“IR has already demonstrated with its single channel IRS2092(S), 3-channel IRS2053M and 4-channel IRS2093M Class D audio amplifiers that offer equivalent sound quality to Class AB amplifiers while providing the additional benefits of higher efficiency and smaller size. The new IRS2052M, which integrates two channels into one IC, provides the flexibility and convenience of building popular stereo amplifiers and multi channel designs in a 2.1ch, 5.1ch or 6ch configuration,” said Jun Honda, director of audio systems engineering, Energy Saving Products Business Unit.

The IRS2052M is optimized to work with IR’s extensive range of digital audio MOSFETs addressing output power from 50W to 300W to reduce component count and PCB space while achieving improved performance, efficiency, THD and EMI.
