The Omega engineering clamp-on temperature sensor is the first of its kind to offer highly accurate measurement of fluid inside a pipe without having to insert a probe.

Farnell, an Avnet Company and global distributor of electronic components, products and solutions, is stocking the latest innovation for non-invasive temperature measurement, the HANI Clamp-on Temperature Sensor from Omega Engineering.

The HANI is available from Farnell and offers customers the unique ability to measure the temperature of fluid inside a pipe without having to install an invasive sensor. Offering unprecedented accuracy when taking temperature measurements of sanitary fluid and industrial processes, it is an ideal solution for food and beverage, personal care, chemical production and pharmaceutical applications.

The HANI Clamp-on Temperature Sensor can be installed in seconds on metal pipe sizes 1”- 4” and incorporates temperature and heat flux sensors with a proprietary algorithm to deliver fast measurements, reducing downtime and installation costs. With a response time of 5 sec and 10 sec measurements, the HANI offers high accuracy in metal pipes, achieving ±0.5°C in sanitary applications and ±0.5 to ±1.0°C in industrial installations.

As a Layer N-compatible device, the HANI can be seamlessly connected within Omega’s smart industrial monitoring and control ecosystem. The HANI outputs at 4-20 mA and can be connected by an M12 cable to any standard output device.

Mike King, Global Product Segment Leader - Sensors at Farnell said: “Omega Engineering is a market leader in the development of innovative industrial control and measurement products, and the HANI Clamp-on Temperature Sensor is no exception. We are pleased to bring Omega’s full portfolio of advanced technology products to our customers.

“The HANI is a truly unique solution as it can be mounted like a surface sensor in seconds, but it offers the performance of an invasive sensor. Customers don’t have to worry about immersion depth, material compatibility, corrosion or contamination risks, and will benefit from reduced costs and maximised uptime when measuring fluids used in critical processes.”

The HANI temperature sensor mounts like a surface sensor, but performs like an invasive sensor. Installing or relocating an invasive in-pipe sensor can be a costly, time-consuming process. With the HANI, customers don't need to worry about immersion depth, material compatibility, corrosion or contamination risks. And there's no loss of performance, so it's really a best-of-both-worlds approach”, said Ahmar Bajwa, Director Product Management, Temperature Products, Omega Engineering.

Omega Engineering, part of Spectris Plc, is an established manufacturer of innovative solutions, offering more than 100,000 state-of-the art products for the measurement and control of temperature, humidity, pressure, strain, force, flow, level, pH and conductivity. Omega also provides customers with a complete line of data acquisition, electric heating, and custom engineered products.
