1. Compact single-chip PMIC solution available

Efficient reliability when size matters: the Nordic nPM1100 is a dedicated power management IC (PMIC) with configurable dual-mode buck regulator and integrated battery charger. It is designed as a complementary component to Nordic‘s nRF52 and nRF53 series of system-on-chips (SoCs) to ensure reliable power supply and stable operation while maximising battery life through high efficiency and low quiescent currents.

It can also be used as a generic PMIC device for any other suitable application. The extremely compact (2.075x2.075mm) WLCSP package is ideal for applications in wearables, connected medical devices, smart home sensors and controls, remote controls and game controllers, and other size constrained applications.

2. New 10Gbps iCoupler digital isolator launched

Analog Devices has introduced the first in a new series of iCoupler digital isolators that offers a total bandwidth of ten Gigabits per second. The ADN4624 digital isolator provides four channels at 2.5Gbps, allowing data to transfer seamlessly in the electrical domain and enabling new system architectures in digital health, instrumentation and smart industry.

The new digital isolator streamlines design and easily integrates isolation for safety or data integrity. The ADN4624 is a compact solution that meets medical standards and reliably isolates high fidelity video and imaging links, precision analogue front ends and serial interconnects as an alternative to cumbersome and specialised fibre solutions.

3.Single-stage flyback controllers for smart LED drivers

Cost-effective dimmable and intelligent LED systems are expected to increase the market share disproportionately in the coming years. Introducing the ICL8800, ICL8810 and ICL8820 single-stage flyback LED controllers for constant output voltages, Infineon Technologies has addressed the need of LED driver manufacturers in this regard.

With their features, the ICs meet the necessary performance requirements for LED lighting applications, such as LED drivers and luminaires up to 125W, smart lighting, and emergency luminaire. Outside this market segment, adapters and chargers, flat TVs, all-in-one PCs and monitors up to 125W profit from the ICL88xx family.

4. Automotive low-dropout regulators for functional safety

With eight selectable fixed-output voltages, diagnostic features for functional safety, and high thermal performance, STMicroelectronics’ L99VR01 AEC-Q100 qualified low-dropout linear voltage regulators simplify system design and ease inventory management for multiple automotive applications.

The regulators supply up to 200mA for powering loads such as body modules, junction boxes, instrument clusters, sunroof controllers, keyless-entry controllers, and sensors. The output voltage can be set to 0.8, 1.2, 1.5, 1.8, 2.5, 2.8, 3.3, or 5V more accurately than with an external voltage divider using three external selection pins. The output is within ±2% of the nominal value.

5. 480W DIN-Rail power supply for marine applications

PULS Power has announced the availability of their new 24V, 20A DIN-Rail power supply CP20.245-R2, developed for on- and offshore use in the marine and offshore process industries. The marine-compliant power supply meets the high requirements of EMC class B without additional external filters and can be used directly in bridge and deck applications.

The CP20.245-R2 has optimal electronic and mechanical design for the harsh environmental conditions found at sea and onshore. The power supply is characterised by its high immunity to transients and voltage peaks as well as its robust aluminium housing. The device provides full output power of 480W even with fluctuating ambient temperatures between -40 and + 60°C. The extensive approval package includes Marine DNV, Marine ABS and ATEX, among others.
