A DrMOS replaces a synchronous MOSFET driver IC and a pair of power MOSFETs, offering higher switching frequency and higher efficiency, resulting in better thermal performances and higher system reliability. It is the next-generation power technology for high-current power converters.
“The use of DrMOS promises to make it much easier for a design engineer to build power converters that meets today’s stringent demands for efficiency and fast and flexible designs,” said Liu Yang, Director of Marketing for Semtech’s Power Management Telecom Division. “The dual power output and high switching frequency of the SC2447 make it ideally suited for the compact and leading-edge power converter designs that leverage DrMOS technology.”
The SC2447 incorporates soft-start/enable pins for each output and 180-degree out-of-phase operation that minimizes the input current ripple and enables the use of smaller input filter capacitors which reduce the size and cost of the total design.
The device can be started into a pre-biasing output. It also features hiccup overload protection, which protects the converter from overload damage and automatically returns to normal operation when overload condition is removed.
The SC2447 is provided in a 28-lead TSSOP package that is lead-free and meets RoHS and WEEE environmental standards.
The SC2447 is available immediately in production quantities and is priced at $1.95 each in 1,000 -piece lots.
