Rutronik unveils compact Amphenol power connector for high-reliability applications

Rutronik has introduced the Minitek Pwr 3.0, a new power connector system from Amphenol designed for applications requiring compact design and reliable power transmission.

The system supports up to 5 A per contact and targets sectors including industrial automation, communications, computing, and medical technology.

Available in dual-row configurations with two to 24 pins, and single-row versions with two to 12 pins, the Minitek Pwr 3.0 features polarised geometry to prevent incorrect mating and fully insulated contacts to reduce the risk of damage. Low mating forces are intended to simplify assembly both in production and in the field.

A blind-mating option (BMI) is also available, allowing secure connection with tolerance compensation of ±2.54 mm, particularly useful in applications with restricted access.

Electrically and mechanically, the connector series is designed for long-term reliability, offering dielectric strength up to 600 Vrms, a temperature range from -40 °C to +105 °C, and durability for up to 30 mating cycles. The housing materials include UL94 V-0-rated LCP, with optional glow-wire compliance to IEC 60695 standards, underlining suitability for use in household and industrial environments.

Rutronik said the connector is RoHS-compliant and emphasised its secure positive locking system, which ensures a firm hold once mated.
