Two devices have been launched today from a new family of Power Bank IC solutions. The ACT2801 and ACT2802 devices from Active-Semi offer numerous benefits including the smallest solution footprint combined with high efficiency at low total system cost.

As Power Bank chipsets on the market today require multiple ICs, the ACT2800 family aimed to reduce the system footprint by integrating functionality into one system-on-chip. Mimizing design complexity, the two new devices feature a 95% power conversion efficiency, programmable current limiting and protection features including over-temperature protection, over-current protection, over-voltage protection, and short-circuit protection. The ACT2801 and ACT2802 extends battery discharge cycle with a low battery leakage current of under 10 uA, whilst battery level indication is made easy with a LED based “power meter”.

The ACT2801 device supports output current up to 1.5A while the ACT2802 supports output current up to 2.1A to reduce charging time when using larger batteries.

“We are excited by the market traction for our integrated Power Bank IC solutions,” says Mark Cieri, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Active-Semi. “We are providing our customers with high performance in the most compact footprint. Our turnkey solution also accelerates time-to-market for our customers, which is equally critical.”
