Phihong Single-Port Midspan Powers Security Cameras in Harsh Environments

Phihong USA has redesigned its best selling IEEE802.3at-compliant single-port power injector for outdoor applications including access points and security cameras with pan/tilt/zoom. The full waterproof POE33U-1AT midspan is fully functional in harsh environments and the 33.6W output is ideal for users wanting to expand their security or wireless networks.
“Typically, networking equipment is not designed for use in industrial settings where temperature fluctuations and moisture can significantly affect powering devices such as security cameras,” said Keith Hopwood, vice president of marketing for Phihong USA. “The POE33U midspans are completely waterproof and safe to use indoors and outdoors for a variety of residential, commercial and industrial applications.”

Complimenting the POE36U-1AT IEEE802.3at-compliant single-port midspan, the POE33U-1AT also has an output of 33.6W at 56V that compensates for up to 7.65W in wire drops to devices that may be up to 100 meters away from the network switch. The power injector has an ingress protection rating of 67 making it waterproof and with an operating temperature range of -40°C up to 65°C; the unit is fully functional in even the harshest of environments.

The POE33U-1AT is equipped with over-voltage, over-current and short-circuit protections standard and may operate at gigabit Base-T data rates.
Additionally, the midspan operates at a minimum average efficiency rate of 70% and bears safety approval markings from CE and UL.

Three ports on the front of the unit connect to standard ¾ NPT conduit piping or users may opt for wire glands to enable full waterproof operation.

The wire glands are available for a single cable with the part number PGLAND750 and for two cables as PGLAND750-2.

The midspan measures 300mm by 184mm by 82mm with the mounting bracket in place and weighs 2.83Kg. Pricing for the outdoor midspan starts at $262.38 in single piece quantities
