Miniature DC/DC converters for industrial applications
Flex Power Modules introduces new families of miniature DC/DC converters for industrial applications: the PUA-A, PUC-B and PUB-M. The new devices are all isolating converters providing output power of up to one watt, with no minimum load required. At embedded world, the products will be presented at the Flex stand located in Hall 3A-400.
Efficiency is typically 84% (PUA-A), 80% (PUC-B) and 81% (PUB-M) – all at full load. Input-to-output isolation voltage is 2000V (PUA-A), 6,000V (PUC-B) and 3,000V (PUB-M).
The new converters deliver the reliability and ruggedness needed for the harsh environments found in industrial applications, and have mean time between failures (MTBF) rated at 17.9 million hours (Mh) for the PUB-M, 15Mh for the PUC-B and 13.1Mh for the PUA-A.
The devices are safety compliant to EN/UL 62368-1, and Flex Power Modules is an ISO 9001/14001 certified supplier.
Olle Hellgren, Director of Product Management and Business Development at Flex Power Modules, said: “These new DC/DC converters further expand our family of products for the industrial sector, all of which achieve high standards of performance, efficiency and reliability. We offer our industrial customers a diverse range of solutions – meaning they can find the right product, whatever their application.”
The converters have a wide operating temperature range of -40 to +100°C (PUA-A and PUC-B) and -40 to +110°C (PUB-M). They include output short-circuit protection, to avoid damage.
The devices are all provided in industry-standard packages. The PUA-A is a SIP4 device, measuring 11.5x6x10mm. The PUC-B is housed in a SIP7 package, measuring 19.7x7.1x11.5mm, while the PUB-M is a surface-mount device (SMD) with dimensions of 12.75x11.2x6.6mm for the single-output variant, and 15.25x11.2x6.6mm for the dual-output version.
