MAX14566E: Compact charger identification switch supports USB, Apple, and CCSA YD/T charging

Maxim introduced the MAX14566E, a USB charger identification solution that supports the charging of portable devices from notebook computers, even when the computer is in sleep or hibernate mode. This switch supports the USB Battery Charging Specification, Revision 1.1, as well as the CCSA YD/T 1591-2006 standard for the Chinese market. The compact (2mm x 2mm) MAX14566E saves board space and reduces software overhead as compared to discrete implementations.

The MAX14566E automatically identifies the type of portable device connected using its charger identification circuit. Requiring no external software, this circuit allows a host USB port to support USB Battery Charging Specification, Revision 1.1-compliant devices with shorted D+/D- detection, as well as Apple(R) devices by using a resistor bias. The MAX14566E also features a high-performance, Hi-Speed USB switch with low 4pF (typ) on-capacitance and low 4ohm (typ) on-resistance.

Operating over the -40 degrees Celsius to +85 degrees Celsius extended temperature range, the MAX14566E is available in a 2mm x 2mm, 8-pin TDFN package.
