TDK-Lambda adds 24V input DC-DC module to its CN-A family

TDK-Lambda UK has added a 24Vdc input series to its CN-A family of railway DC-DC power modules. A robust, quarter-brick 100W power module, the CN100A24 is compliant with the applicable railway standards, and its high-reliability design affords a long warranty period of 5 years.

Suitable for both rolling stock and fixed installations, the CN100A24 modules enable customers to design cost-effective EN50155 compliant systems without the risks associated with custom product designs and in a much shorter timescale. These compact and efficient CN-A24 power modules meet the growing demand for energy conservation within the railway industry and complement the existing CN-A110 series (60-160Vdc), thereby helping to accelerate the adoption of industry standard power modules within the railway industry. TDK-Lambda also offers a design and manufacture service for customers preferring to buy in complete systems meeting their exact electrical and mechanical requirements.

Designed for harsh environments, the 100W module in the CN-A24 series meets the stringent shock and vibration requirements of IEC61373 Category 1 Class B, as well as the Japanese equivalent standard JIS E 4031. The baseplate-cooled CN100A24 module, with industry standard quarter-brick pinout, accepts a wide input voltage (14.4-36Vdc) with 40Vdc surge capability for 3s and provides exceptionally high, true useable power from -40 to +100°C, without derating. With nominal output ranging from 5 to 24V, it offers up to 88% power conversion efficiency, 60W/in3 power density and delivers up to 20A useable output current in a package measuring 1.45 x 0.5 x 2.28 (36.8 x 12.7 x 57.9mm).

As standard, all models in the CN-A24 series are equipped with remote sense, remote on/off and input-to-output isolation of 3.0kVac for 1min, as well as over voltage and over current protection circuitry. Delivered with TDK-Lambda’s 5-year warranty, the CN100A24 is safety-approved to UL/CSA/EN60950-1 and carries the CE mark, according to the LV Directive.
