5 W AC-DC converters in small SIP packaging
PEAK electronics has today announced the introduction of the PPM5-SB-xxELF AC-DC converter module, an expansion of the company's PPM SIP series. Available in a 42 x 27 x 11 mm ultra-miniature SIP12 package, the highly-efficient PPM5-SB-xxELF provides 5W, a significant improvement over the previous PPM SIP series offerings of 1.65W to 3W.
The price is right
New approaches to electrical power in smart homes can save costs in the face of increasing electricity prices. Paul Cheesman, Business Development Manager Europe North for RECOM Electronic, explores more in this article from ES Design magazine.
New regulator features unique Silent Switcher architecture
The LT8614 is a new 4A, 42V input capable synchronous step-down switching regulator from Linear. Featuring unique Silent Switcher architecture, the LT8614 reduces EMI/EMC emissions by more than 20dB, well below the CISPR 25 Class 5 limit. The LT8614 is ideal for automotive and industrial applications due to its 3.4V to 42V input voltage range, whilst the synchronous rectification delivers efficiency as high as 96% and the Burst Mode operation ke...
Minimize power & heat loss in PoE devices with new LT4321
The LT4321, an ideal diode bridge controller that replaces two diode bridge rectifiers with low-loss N-channel MOSFET bridges, has been launched today by Linear Technology. The LT4321 increases the available power and reduces heat dissipation in a PoE PD. The space- and power-efficient LT4321 dual active bridge rectifies and smoothly combines power from both the data and spare pairs into a single, polarity-correct supply output.
Altera reference designs save power, space and cost
Altera reveal four new reference designs that leverage the power technology obtained through its recent acquisition of Enpirion. The reference designs provide turnkey power solutions which increase power efficiency by up to 35 percent, reduce board area by up to 50 percent, and reduce overall BOM bulk capacitance costs by up to 50 percent versus competing power solutions for FPGA users and board developers.
TI introduce 20V DC-DC synchronous buck controller
Texas Instruments introduce the first analog DC-DC step-down controller with remote bipolar junction transistor temperature-compensated inductor current sensing. Minimising the total solution footprint in high-power POL conversion, the LM27403 offers efficiency greater than 95% from a 12-V input at 25 A of output current.
Quick Charge 2.0 smartphone charger reference design
Power Integrations has today revealed an industry first with its reference design for a Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0-enabled charger power supply. Launched by Qualcomm earlier in 2013, the Quick Charge 2.0 protocol up to 75% faster charging of mobile devices than conventional USB charging technology.
Powersolve introduces new plug-top USB chargers
Powersolve has today introduced a new series of AC-DC single and dual USB chargers that will charge mobile phones, tablets, MP3 players, digital cameras as well as any device that can be charged using a standard 5VDC USB charger. Operating from a universal 90 – 264VAC input, the PKS-USB Series includes three models – single output 5V 1A, single output 5V 2.1A, or dual output 5V 1A and 2A.
MOSFET allows superior power density in compact footprint
Ideal for heavy load automotive applications including electric power steering, braking systems and pumps, the new AUIRF8736M2 DirectFET2 power MOSFET from IR enables superior power density in a compact footprint.
DC-DC converter module for next-generation vehicles
Powerstax have today launched the Flexistax D1001 DC-DC converter module, based on the company’s proprietary, field proven F501 brick technology. For use in next-generation vehicles, the 1000W rated module is capable of supporting typical system efficiency levels of 86%.
