Regulator keeps quiescent current under 2.5µA
A 3.5A, 42V input capable synchronous step-down switching regulator has been introduced by Linear Technology. The LT8610AC's Burst Mode operation keeps quiescent current under 2.5µA in no-load standby conditions, while synchronous rectification delivers efficiency as high as 96%.
Dual-sided cooling improves MOSFET heat dissipation
Toshiba Electronics Europe has revealed that its high-efficiency, low-voltage MOSFETs are now available in ultra-compact DSOP Advance package options, which offer dual-sided cooling to improve heat dissipation by more than 30%. This enables designers to minimise the PCB temperature and improve performance without board space penalties in high-component-density applications.
Power system manager relieves computation & polling
Providing current, power and energy monitoring of the intermediate bus input to Point-of-Load (PoL) converters, a four-channel PMBus digital power system manager has been released by Linear Technology. By providing the energy consumed, reported in joules, and the elapsed time through a PMBus interface, the LTC2975 relieves computation and polling.
SMT current sense transformers have a turn ratio of 1:100
Designed for automotive electronics, two SMT current sense transformers have been introduced by TDK. Based on an EP7 ferrite core, the B78417A2185A003 is designed to measure pulse currents of up to 20A. DC resistance is 1.3mΩ on the primary side and 3.7Ω on the secondary side.
Compact microwave power module meets defence needs
Link Microtek is selling a switchable Ka/Q-band microwave power module (MPM) that provides highly compact power-amplifier functionality for defence and aerospace applications where size and weight are key considerations. Designed and manufactured by L-3 Electron Devices, the M2837 module delivers more than 100W of saturated CW power at Ka-band frequencies from 29.5 to 31.0GHz and over 80W at Q-band frequencies from 43.5 to 45.5GHz.
24V, 100W model extends panel mount power supply series
The PMH-24V100WCAA from Delta Electronics, a 24V 100W model which extends the current PMH series, offers universal input from 85-264VAC with a nominal output voltage of 24V. The unit features a highly efficient convection cooling construction can, which operates from -20 to 70°C.
RF power transistor features 20:1 load-mismatch capability
Designed for high-output class-E industrial power supplies, the STAC250V2-500E 13.6MHz RF power transistor has been released by STMicroelectronics. Providing enhanced safety up to 600W, the device has 20:1 load-mismatch capability, which is claimed to be the highest in the industry. Enabling compact power supplies above 1kW, two STAC250V2-500E transistors used together occupy a similar area to that of a single ceramic transistor.
Power supplies offer 4kVAC input to output isolation
Featuring input to output isolation of 4kVAC and 2xMOPP, the ZMS100 single-output power supply series has been released by TDK-Lambda. The devices, which are the first in the company’s ZM series of sub-300W power supplies, provide 1.5kVAC 1xMOPP input to ground and output to ground isolation levels.
Power modules offer 0.1% line regulation
Utilising emulated current mode Constant On-Time (COT) control, the 10A XR79110 and 15A XR79115 single output, synchronous step-down power modules have been released by Exar. In a single die, the devices integrate power converters including MOSFETs, inductors and internal input and output capacitors.
1A µDC/DC converter with integrated coil minimises radiated noise
The XCL219/XCL220 module from Torex Semiconductor is designed to minimise unwanted radiated noise or EMI, making it suitable for sensitive RF applications. With its integrated coil, the XCL219/220 achieves a significant reduction in radiated noise across all frequency bands, when compared with a conventional DC/DC circuit with an external coil.
