Thru hole power inductors are cost-effective for SMPSs
Available in three performance levels: the RFC0807, RFC0810 and RFC1010 series, Coilcraft’s RFC leaded power inductors offer a low-cost, high-efficiency option for SMPS applications.
75W switching regulated power supplies are convection cooled
Expanding the Narrow Profile, three-day power supply series of switching regulated power supplies, Acopian Power Supplies introduces the the WN8B power supply. The AC-DC single-output units provide an output power of up to 75W with convection cooling, which eliminates the need for fan maintenance, along with audible/ambient noise and vibrations.
Peak power detector features response time of 7ns
Linear has introduced a high temperature RF Schottky peak power detector that operates from 600MHz to 15GHz, and has ultrafast detection response time of 7ns from a pulsed RF signal. The LTC5564H has an on-chip fast latchable comparator with a total detection and propagation delay of 9ns, response times which enable RF and microwave applications that slower devices cannot support.
PoL DC/DC converters are configurable via PMBus
Murata’s OKDx-T/20-W12 and T/25-W12 series PoL DC/DC converters offer an efficient, high power density, PMBus compatible digital power solution for space constrained embedded applications such as powering CPUs, datacomms/telecomms, Distributed Bus Architectures (DBA), programmable logic, and mixed voltage systems in the networking, computing/servers and industrial market sectors.
Driver consumes 12 times less power than industry-standard
Diodes Incorporated has introduced the ULN2003V12 and ULN2003F12A relay and inductive load sink drivers, providing seven and four channels, respectively. The ULN2003V12 consumes 12 times less power while offering a direct replacement to the industry-standard ULN2003A from other vendors, while the ULN2003F12A provides a smaller footprint when fewer output channels are required, such as when driving low-voltage stepper motors.
Single output 5-20W power supplies are medically approved
Designed to provide up to 20W for medical equipment applications, the PME05, PME10, PME15 and PME20 series single output power supplies have been introduced by Powersolve. Each series is comprised of 5, 12, 15 or 24VDC output models featuring Class II isolation, a rugged plastic housing and free air convection cooling.
PSRR linear regulator's spot noise is only 2nV/√Hz at 10kHz
Linear has released the LT3042, a low noise, high Power Supply Ripple Rejection (PSRR) low dropout voltage linear regulator. Its design features low spot noise of only 2nV/√Hz at 10kHz and 0.8µVRMS integrated output noise across a 10Hz to 100kHz bandwidth. Low frequency PSRR exceeds 90dB out to 10kHz and high frequency PSRR exceeds 75dB out to 3MHz, quieting noisy or high ripple input supplies.
Compact medical transformer provides isolation & compliance
The REO Unimed, a compact transformer for use in medical applications, has been released by REO UK. The transformer is designed to overcome the challenge faced by staff in ensuring medical setups meet European safety and performance standards to protect patients, especially those on life-critical machines. The Unimed can be built into an OEM device to provide full electrical isolation and international compliance.
Pure sine wave inverters meet rail standards
A series of pure sine wave inverters, which provide up to 3000VA of power, has been released by Schaefer. The PRP-3000 series of inverters features models that meet industrial and rail standards. Standard input voltages of 24, 36, 48, 72 and 110VDC are inverted to adjustable 120VAC or 230VAC outputs that are regulated to 4% or better. Units can be configured for three phase synchronisation.
PFC boost controller achieves power factor over 0.99
Linear has announced the LT8312, a PFC boost controller that can achieve a power factor of greater than 0.99 by actively modulating the input current, allowing compliance with most harmonic current emission requirements. This device operates with current mode control and critical conduction mode, a variable frequency switching scheme that returns the current to zero in the inductor with every cycle.
