Designed for use in medical applications, the EML30 series of 30W single output ultra compact AC/DC power supplies has been introduced by XP Power. According to the manufacturer, the series has the smallest footprint and the highest power density in the industry when compared to other similar 30W power supplies with medical safety approvals.

The EML30 series is suited for customers requiring medical safety approvals and where the power source needs to occupy minimal space. The EML30 is also suitable where the requirement is for a Class II input type power supply and where no ground / earth connection is needed.

According to XP Power, the ultra compact EML30 is the smallest 30W medical power supply in the industry. The open frame PCB mount version measures a diminutive 75.2x34.6x26.7mm (2.96x1.36x1.05"), offering a power density of 7.1W-per-cubic-inch. Exhibiting versatility, the series is available in a range of mechanical formats. There are open frame versions with either PCB mount or with connectors, encapsulated models with either PCB mount or screw terminals, and a DIN rail mount option. These provide multiple mounting options to best fit the designers end system.

A wide range of eight single output voltages embracing 3.3, 5, 9, 12, 15, 24, 36 and 48VDC are available. To power short term high power loads, a peak current capability of up to 130% of nominal rated power output is available, so there is no need for designers to specify a more expensive higher rated power supply.

The power supplies feature a wide operating temperature range of -25 to +70°C, with no derating until above +50°C. Using convection cooling, the EML30 is able to provide full power without additional heat sinking or airflow.

The EML30 series meets the requirements of EN60601-1:2006, ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1:2005, and CSA-C22.2 No. 60601-1:2008, offering 2 x MOPP between primary and secondary circuits. Risk management files are available. The series meets the limits for Class B conducted and radiated EMC specifications of EN55022 without the need for any additional external filtering components.

XP Power’s EML30 series power supplies are available now with a three year warranty.
