Murata's GW series of multilayer ceramic capacitors is the world's first to comply to the Japanese standard JEITA RCX-2326. This standard specifies capacitance under actual operating conditions including temperature and DC voltage. Murata has succeeded in achieving higher capacitance with the GW series under these conditions compared with previous models of multilayer ceramic capacitors. The GW series is therefore ideal for decoupling capacitor use in power supply circuits for low voltage driven devices and CPUs, FPGAs and similar applications.
The properties of ferroelectric materials such as barium titanate used in voltage dependent ceramic capacitors can result in a significant difference between the nominal capacitance and the actual capacitance under operating conditions. The Japanese JEITA standard RCX-2326 (Fixed capacitors for use in electronic equipment-Surface mount multilayer ceramic capacitors, Class 2A) was issued in 2007 in order to provide more functional ceramic capacitors to the market by describing capacitance in conjunction with actual operating conditions. Murata has become the first company to develop products complying to this standard.

For the GW series, in addition to conventional two-terminal construction, Murata has introduced a three-terminal part and a two-terminal part featuring LW reverse construction. In LW reverse construction, the capacitor's electrodes are oriented parallel to the 'long' side of the capacitor. The aim of both three-terminal and LW reverse construction models is to enable high speed electric charging and discharging through low parasitic ESR achieved by means of shortening the distance between the electrode terminations and widening the internal electrodes.

As a result of these structural changes, low impedance has been achieved over a very wide frequency band. This contributes to significant downsizing of electronic equipment due to the smaller number of components required. The combination of large capacitance and low impedance makes the GW series ideal for decoupling capacitor applications in power supply circuits of low voltage driven devices and ICs.

Lineup of the GW series comprises: the GWM32RJ10E107Y, with two terminals; the GWF4VCJ10E107Y, with three terminals; and the GWL4VCJ10E107Y with LW reverse construction. All three parts provide capacitance of 100?F, offered for the first time in the world for LW reverse type and three terminal types (at DC voltage 1.25V, AC 100mVrms applied, capacitance deviation +30%-20% between -25 and 105°C as part of the JEITA standard compliance). Rated voltage is 2.5VDC with operating temperature range of -25 to 105°C.
