Vishay – Wet Tantalum Capacitors for Avionics/Aerospace Feature Glass-to-Tantalum Hermetic Seal

Vishay announced the release of a new series of tantalum-cased wet tantalum capacitors with glass-to-tantalum hermetic seals. For avionics and aerospace applications, the T16 electrolytic capacitors provide all the advantages of Vishay’s SuperTan series devices, while offering improved reverse voltage and high vibration capability.

The T16 offers enhanced performance with a reverse voltage of 1.5 V at + 85 °C and a high-reliability design with improved vibration (sine: 20 g; random: 27.7 g), thermal shock, and mechanical shock capabilities. This initial release will feature high capacitances from 150 µF to 680 µF in the D case code, and capacitance tolerances of ± 20 % standard at 120 Hz and + 25 °C, with tolerances of ± 10 % and ± 5 % available.

The wet tantalum capacitors are optimized for timing, filtering, energy hold-up, and pulse power applications in power supplies and space and avionics equipment.

The T16 series operates over a temperature range of – 55 °C to + 85 °C, to + 125 °C with voltage derating, and provides low ESR down to 0.70 Ω at 120 Hz and + 25 °C. The capacitors feature standard tin/lead terminations, with RoHS-compliant 100 % tin terminations available, and are offered with standard and extended ratings
