Aimed directly at the LCD inverter market, Syfer Technology has developed a range of surface mount multilayer ceramic capacitors, offering reduced susceptibility to surface arcing. The improved properties have been made possible through the utilization of a unique C0G/NP0 dielectric material.
LCD designers can now safely replace conventional leaded capacitors with these surface mount devices, saving valuable board space and reducing the bill of material costs, without compromising performance.

Devices available include 5kV and 6kV capacitors in either an 1808 or 1812 footprint. Capacitance for the 5kV parts ranges from 1.5 to 22pF in the smaller 1808 package and from 3.9 to 68pF in the 1812. Engineers requiring the 6kV devices, are offered a capacitance range from 1.5 to 12pF in 1808 and from 3.9 to 33pF in the 1812 package.

Syfer’s technical information provides guidance on solder pad design, as this can impact the arcing voltage. The capacitors are primarily aimed at LCD applications for TV and other large display based products.

Designed, developed and manufactured at Syfer’s Norwich, Norfolk facility, the LCD inverter range of MLCCs is available in production volumes on a standard 5 week delivery time after receipt of order. Pricing starts at around 5p (10 cents) per device, dependent on quantity. All devices are finished with standard or FlexiCap TM terminations and are fully RoHS compliant. For specialist, RoHS exempt applications, a tin-lead finish can be provided.
