Optimised for the HVAC, printing, Short-Wavelength Infrared (SWIR) lamps, lighting control and the plastics and rubber markets, the new RJ1P is ideally suited to temperature controllers that use an analogue output for switching single-phase heaters, lamps and other loads up to 18kW. This solid-state relay can handle higher-power loads than other existing solutions relative to its compact platform.
It provides a significant addition to Carlo Gavazzi’s established RJ family and offers plug-in replacement options for users of the existing RN1F.
In HVAC applications, solid state relays with distributed or burst fire switching provide smooth, accurate and reliable temperature control in comparison to a mechanical device. Phase angle control is ideal for accurate lighting control without light flicker.
The relay takes up just 45mm on DIN rails, around half the width of competing relays: twice as many units can be placed in the same panel (or the same number in half the space), thus lowering overall system cost. A green LED on the front panel indicates control input status, while a red LED shows status of the load through direct feedback circuitry.
Rather than using complex codes, DIP switch setting or inaccurate potentiometers, setup is via a rotary function selector switch on the front of the device. Users can choose between five pre-configured control options, which reduces inventory requirements and costs.
There is comprehensive conformity with international standards, including IEC/EN 60947-4-3, EMC Directives 89/336 and EN61000-6-2. The relay carries CE marking, as well as UL and cUL approvals.
