Inductor/Transformer Features a Low Profile Surface Mount Design

The DR359 Series Surface Mount Inductor/Transformer from Datatronics features a unique dual coil design in a compact, low-profile package that makes it ideal for a wide range of applications in mini and hand-held electronic devices designed for the consumer, industrial, instrumentation, telecom and other industries.

With a low seated profile standing only .315 inches (8 mm) above the circuit board in a square package, the new DR359 Series Inductor/Transformer is a versatile magnetic component featuring both parallel and series functionality. The DR359’s unique dual coil design allows circuit designers to take advantage of its ability to support circuit requirements for either an inductor or transformer.

The DR359 Series Inductor/Transformer features an inductance range from 0.47 to 1000 µH. The parallel windings feature an inductance range from 0.419 to 1005.0 µH (+20%), with a DCR from 0.00195 to 1.6600 ohms. The series windings inductance ranges from 1.676 to 4020 µH (+25%), with a DCR from 0.0078 to 6.640 ohms. Custom designed transformers can be specified to meet unique circuit requirements.

The DR359 combines high-performance and superior reliability based on its precision coil-winding technology and its advanced high-temperature materials packaging. Designed to support challenging environments, the DR359 features an operating temperature range from -40 to +125°C. All materials also meet UL94V-0 specifications for operating in harsh conditions.

Miniature in size and robust by design, the DR359 measures .493 inches (12.5 mm) square. With its flat-top surface, the DR359 is ideal for high-speed automated pick-and-place circuit board assembly equipment and is available in a choice of tube or tape-and-reel packaging. The DR359’s high temperature materials also make it suitable for wave soldering.
